Frequently Asked Questions
Why does it take longer to get me a small order than a larger one?
There is no minimum order size for JA products. Unfortunately, because the cost per unit of international (and domestic) shipping decreases substantially as the size of the shipment increases, it's infeasible for us to send small orders from Guatemala to your door without grouping them with other orders for the international leg of the trip. Finding the right order to group with your order can take a few weeks. Hence, the longer delay for small orders than for large ones.
What if I want to order something specialized that your order form doesn't allow for?
Just email us at
. Our partner artisans are highly capable and can do a broad variety of embroidery. While there are some designs that we might not be able to complete, we're always happy to work with you to get the design you want at an affordable customized price.
What good does my order do?
Your order directly supports a number of individuals in Santiago. The artisan who embroidered your Just Apparel product receives a higher wage for her work than she would anywhere else in Santiago. What's more, your purchase supports our local suppliers here in Santiago. Finally, the profits from your order go to fund the Just Apparel Community Investment program, which spreads the benefits of JA to a broad portion of Santiago.
Joel asks: Are the shirts you embroider fairtrade? organic?
We are in the process of receiving fair trade certification. For more information about the ethical values we uphold, visit the About Us page on this site. Unfortunately, there are no suppliers of organic cotton or organic cotton fabric in Central America. Due to the high fuel use of transportation of such products from other continents, it would be rather environmentally damaging to use imported products (not to mention cost prohibitive). We are keeping our eyes out for an organic supplier and hope to offer that option in the future.
Alison asks: Can you ship products to the uk?
Unfortunately, shipping products on demand to the UK from Guatemala is very costly. For large orders, it might be affordable. For a small order, you would end up paying a good amount more in shipping than for the products themselves.
Lee asks: Do you supply stores in Australia
As with shipping to the UK, getting products to Australia is quite expensive. If the quantity of goods were high enough, however, we would certainly be able to supply a store in Australia.
